Cornflower Wholefoods was established here in
Brightlingsea's High Street in the 1980s and bought by Alice and Ray Davies in
February 2006. The 200-year-old premises have a delightful period look,
providing a charming ambience in which to tarry while deciding on which
particular goodies to buy. And that can be quite a problem, as everything is
top-quality and really appetising, with locally sourced organic products a
speciality and everything geared to promoting healthy, wholesome eating and
living. There's an excellent array of delicatessen items in the chilled display
cabinets, along with super preserves and chutneys, bread, eggs, dried pulses
and legumes, fruit, nuts, rice, flour, fruit juices, herbs and spices. The shop
also stocks a range of specialist foods, including gluten-free and dairy-free,
and a range of herbal and homeopathic remedies.
