A row of restored fishermen's cottages houses Cromer Museum, where the look and feel of a fisherman's home life 100 years ago is enhanced by the gentle glow of real gas lights. The rooms in the cottages tell the story of Cromer and the area from the bones of prehistoric animals that once roamed this part of the world to the development of the town, the coming of the railway and the building of the grand Victorian hotels. Thousands of pictures of old Cromer are stored in the museum's computer, and visitors can find out about the geology and natural history of the local beaches in the Beachcombers' Shed. The museum has a small, well-stocked shop.
