Bridge Nurseries are situated in the
beautiful and historic coastal village of Dunwich, just a few hundred yards from the beach
- but well
sheltered form the buffeting North Sea breezes. They specialise in growing
clematis and have hundreds of varieties available throughout the year to
visitors to the nursery or by express mail order service. The plants are based
on the original Jim Fisk collection and are grown on the premises. A free
clematis catalogue can be had on request. The nurseries also supply a full
range of unusual perennials together wild flowers and a seasonal collection of
annual plants for hanging baskets and containers. Customers can purchase garden
essentials from the small, well-stocked nursery shop.
A delightful extra feature here is the tearoom, which is
open every day of the year - in summer, the south-facing terrace catches the
sun all day. The ingredients are sourced locally, and everything is freshly
made, from sandwiches, interesting salads, warming homemade soups, freshly
baked cakes and locally made fruit ice creams. The Bower, a charming covered
area in the clematis garden, is a lovely spot for a private party for up to 30
people. Bridge Nurseries are open seven days a week, from 10am to 5pm in summer
and from 10am to 4pm in winter.
