Heatherley Antiques, run by Heather Coleman,
is housed in a distinguished single-storey Victorian brick building close to the
town centre and a few steps east of St Michael's Church tower.
The shop specialises in fine gifts and antique jewellery,
and the seasonal collections feature leading names such as Tiffany, Cartier,
Piaget and Lalique. Costume jewellery also has its place here, and many of the
pieces are just as beautifully designed and crafted as the more expensive
big-name items. Juliana, Vendome, Hattie Carnegie and Marcel Boucher are among
the leading names in this sphere. Among other stock are small items of
furniture, porcelain, glass, bronze, clocks, lamps, maps, prints and other fine
collectables.
Heatherley Antiques also offers expert clock and furniture
restoration. The two spacious rooms, skilfully refurbished to reflect the age
and style of the building, provide a comfortable, relaxing atmosphere for
browsing and buying, with a real fire adding to the warmth on winter days.
Opening hours are 10am to 5pm Monday to Saturday.
