Hilary and Celia run Bangles & Tat, a
friendly shop selling a wide range of beads and jewellery-making equipment. The beads
include glass, wooden, semi-precious and
freshwater pearls, and the stock offers everything
needed to make jewellery, including cords and
wires, buttons, sequins, felting wool, and ribbons
in organza and velvet. The handmade jewellery on display, including some splendid tiaras, can
be bought or reproduced to order in a variety
of sizes and styles.
Visitors to this splendid little place can
learn to make their own jewellery and other decorative pieces in the small,
informal workshops that are held during shop hours
(up to four participants) or in the evenings (up to
10 per course). Subjects include wire & bead jewellery, fabric collage, wet and dry
felting, peg loom weaving, silk paper making and
papier maché. Shop hours are 9.30am to 5pm
Monday to Saturday.
