The Royal Air Force College at Cranwell in Lincolnshire is probably the most
famous landmark in R.A.F history. The Cranwell Aviation Heritage Centre portrays the history
of this renowned Royal Air Force officer training establishment, from its early days as
a Royal Naval Air Service balloon base to present day.
The attraction features photographs, exhibits and archive film. It also has
a computerised flight simulator, outside courtyard area with Jet Provost aircraft,
Vampire nose pod, an exhibition hall with interpretation panels, artefacts, and exhibits and
video theatre, and an information and retail area which sells souvenirs and memorabilia.
For opening times, more information on the centre, or details of special
events contact Sleaford Tourist Information Centre on 01529 414294
