When Sarah George and Helen Sparrow met for
coffee at The Heart of The Shires Shopping Village in
1996 and looked at an empty unit, they had little idea
of what was to be the result. Eleven years later,
and winners of no less than eight awards for Excellence
in Housewares, including Cook &
Housewares Retailer of The Year 2005, the flagship store has expanded
into three local towns, Rugby, Banbury and Northampton.
Abraxas Cookshop, situated on the top floor of
the Barn Arcade at The Heart of The Shires
Shopping Village, is one of the finest of its kind and has
been described as "an inspired shopping experience".
The family-run and owned business with the emphasis
on quality goods and personal customer service together with
the warm and convivial atmosphere created by the highly
trained friendly staff. makes this a magical journey not to be missed.
Abraxas Cookshop is an `Aladdin's cave' of cookware
for use by the everyday cook to the professional chef. The
layout of the shop is in different sections for easy exploration by
the customer. Begin at the Aga section carrying a varied
selection of Aga cookware, bakeware and accessories then browse
the many saucepan ranges on offer, brands include Mauviel
French copper, Swift Supreme, Meyer-Prestige, Hahn, Fissler
and Stellar. Moving on past butchers blocks and kitchen work stations,
salt & pepper mills, pestle & mortars, chopping boards, steamers and
frying pans customers arrive at the electrical section housing
KitchenAid, Magimix, Cuisinart and Dualit food mixers, blenders, coffee
machines and toasters in an array of eye-catching colours and
finishes. Customers can then peruse the Nigella Lawson designer range and
the complete range of Le Creuset cast-iron cookware together with
textiles and accessories. Spend some time in our specialist bakeware
section where everything from roasting pans, speciality cake tins and
silicone bakeware is available. Abraxas Cookshop also
stocks a large range of knives; brands include Global, Sabatier, Wusthof, Henckels,
I.O.Shen, Porsche and Victorinox. Tools, gadgets, textiles and jam making equipment are all housed in
a large central area.
Extend this unique experience by visiting other shops on the site owned by the
sisters, namely Abraxas China & Glass (stocking the entire Emma Bridgewater range), Dressage
Outdoor Clothing and Ladies Fashions, The Garden Room and The Pickle Room, all on site at The Heart
