Singles, couples, families and pets are all assured of
a warm reception at the Bull & Dog Inn
, which stands on the B5476 five miles south of Whitchurch,
halfway between Whitchurch and Wem. Standards are
high throughout, from the good range of drinks served at
the bar to the wide choice of food. Jayne and Peter
Walker pride themselves on the reputation they have won for
the cooking, and the menus really do provide something
for everyone, which is why regulars come from many
miles around to enjoy the food. The lunchtime and
early evening menu tempts with well-loved favourites
like scampi, gammon, burgers, Cornish pasty, and steak
& kidney pie.
Afternoon tea brings teacakes, scones and doughnuts, the Ruby Club menu offers bargains
for Senior Citizens and there's a separate list for children. The main à la carte menu offers
even more choice, including the Black Rock Grill, where diners cook their own dishes on hot
rocks. The choice includes lean cuts of steak and pork, lamb cutlets, tuna, tiger prawns, tuna
and vegetables, and the cooking involves no fat or oil, so it's very healthy - but don't touch
the rocks! Pub hours are 12 to 2 and 5 to 11, all day Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
