Pembroke Studio, is the most delightful exhibition venue on
the Carlow visual arts trail, light, airy, relaxed and visitor friendly. It
is here that award-winning artist, Bev Carbery makes and shows
her highly original, decorative and sculptural ceramics alongside
wood, bronze and paintings. Her work is as innovative and as diverse as the various cultural influences
with which it is informed.
Apart from the studio work at hand, painting and ceramic
workshops for small groups take place by prior arrangement. With many
years experience of successfully imparting her knowledge and skills,
Bev continues to enjoy the excitement of leading others on organised
journeys of discovery. A long held interest in the customs, behaviour, rituals
and beliefs of people underlies her relaxed style, draws her to travel
extensively and feeds much of her work.
A visit to this delightful studio is a must for anyone interested
in unusual ceramics. It is included in the book
Eyes of Ireland, published by Liffey Press, which features a selection of "Fine Craft Artists and
their Studios". The studio is normally open to the public Mon-Sat 11am -6pm.
