Exploris is Northern Ireland's only
public aquarium and Seal Sanctuary. Exploris
presents the wonders of the Irish Sea, in the
conservation village of Portaferry, on the shores of
Strangford Lough, one of the most important marine
sites in Europe. The Touch Tanks at Exploris give you the opportunity to touch and hold a variety of
living marine animals. Stroke a friendly ray. Feel the suction power of a starfish. The Touch Tanks are run
by experienced guides at regular intervals throughout each day. Exploris rehabilitates Northern
Ireland's sick, injured or orphaned seals in the N.I.E Seal Sanctuary.
You are taken through the seal's journey back to health and eventual release. There are
special viewing points for visitors to see the seals. The nature of rehabilitation means there are times
when there are no seals in the sanctuary. If you are interested in viewing the seals, please call ahead for
more information. |
