Surrounded by countryside and lake views, The
Basement Gallery occupies as you might expect the basement of
a 200-year-old Georgian house. There's a very
relaxed atmosphere and visitors wander through rooms
where servants once used to bustle about their business. A
variety of old features still remain, like the original flagged floors and servants' bells.
Contemporary and traditional style paintings are displayed against the whitewashed walls. Owner Emma
Moore places the emphasis on high quality Irish paintings, sculpture and hand-made pottery from
both north and south of the border. There's a wide variety of artists
and styles with something to appeal to everybody. Visit the
recently renovated Coachhou
se where we stock Avoca and Hanly
exclusive blankets, throws, rugs and scarves - produced in Ireland's
finest woollen mills using designs inspired by nature.
The gallery hosts 3 exhibitions each year, in spring
(Easter), summer (August) and Christmas (late-November to
mid-December). Each exhibition includes original paintings, sculptures and
original prints in a variety of media. Further details can be found on
the website or by e-mailing the gallery. The gallery is located in
the Fermanagh lakelands, about 3 miles from Enniskillen on the
A46 Donegal/Belleek road and is clearly signposted during exhibitions.
