For more than 250 years the Smyth family has
been dispensing hospitality at An
Síbín, a delightful traditional hostelry which is one of the most
famous pubs in Ireland. The original bar retains all its
olde worlde charm while a recent extension houses a
large modern bar complete with dance floor.
Located about half-way between Kenmare and Castletownbere, at the northern end of the
famed Healy Pass, the inn is now owned and run by
the sister and brother team of Frances and Peter Smyth.
It's a lively place with music and dancing
every Friday night throughout the year, and on other
selected nights and of course an impromptu session can
never be ruled out. A pre-requisite for any music group
playing here is that they can play for a set. An
Síbín is now an established set dancing venue for dances from all
across the Beara Peninsula and beyond. During the winter,
set dancing classes for beginners and advanced dancers
take place on Wednesday nights. An Síbín is also a Bord
Failte approved B&B offering five comfortable rooms, all
with en suite facilities.
