offers quality self-catering accommodation in the lovely
countryside near Barnard Castle. This tastefully and
beautifully renovated riverside cottage combines cosy
traditional comforts with modern facilities, and sleeps four
to six people. Set along the southern bank of the River Tees,
at an ancient river crossing from
Yorkshire
into Durham, the cottage began life as a cobbler's and retains
charming original features such as the exposed beams and open
fireplaces. Guests can relax in the attractive sitting room,
with its open fire and rustic furniture, while enjoying the
scenic views of rolling countryside.
The kitchen/dining room has a wood
burning stove and French windows opening on to a patio garden
overlooking the river. There's also a utility room and extra
toilet on the ground floor. Upstairs are two bedrooms a large
double and an attic-style twin - and the bathroom. An
adjoining twin bedroom and en suite bath are available for
extra guests, if required. The back garden has a barbecue area
with garden furniture and steps down to the riverbank. All
guests receive a `welcome hamper' with home-baking, butter,
milk, etc. on arrival, and frozen meals can be ordered in
advance. Parking for two cars. No smoking. Fly fishing on
River Tees.
