Step into a gracious world of
charm, style and elegance at The Georgian Rooms in
Bridlington's developing art, antique, food and heritage
quarter. The award-winning Georgian Tea Rooms and Antique
Centre affords visitors the opportunity to browse among an
impressive collection of furniture, prints, glassware gifts
and much more. Located in the High Street just a few steps
from Market Place and the Priory Church and close to a free
carpark, The Georgian Rooms is Bridlington's only antiques
centre. Set in the historic heart of Bridlington's quaint old
town, which existed long before the seaside resort was
developed in the 19th century, it is a delightful stopping-off
point on any seaside excursion, housing 20 or so dealers in
antiques and collectables - a specialist shopper's paradise.
The
building had been sadly neglected for about 20 years but now
fully restored the upper floor of this distinctive Georgian
building is given over to a wide choice of fine furniture and
crafts, gifts and greeting cards. Set in surroundings that not
only complement but enhance each piece, the rooms are laid out
with great taste and style. The lovely Tea Rooms on the ground
floor are filled with antique tables and chairs and serve
superb teas and coffees and home-cooked food using the
freshest local produce. Voted Café of the Year in 2001 by Les
Routiers, and also accredited by The Tea Guild, the AA and The
Teapot Trail, here you can enjoy a delicious beverage and a
bite to eat in relaxed and welcoming surroundings.
When
the weather is fine you can sit outdoors in the spacious,
picturesque and peaceful patio gardens to the rear, complete
with antique fountain. Closed for two weeks over the Christmas
period at all other times The Georgian Rooms are open Monday
to Saturday 10am-5pm and 10am-3pm on Sunday. The menu boasts
everything from breakfasts to soups, tasty sandwiches and
snacks, home-made cakes and, on Sunday, full roast dinners.
The Tea Rooms are also licenced and serve wonderful wines. At
The Georgian Rooms, owners Diane and Karen and their able,
friendly team have created a truly lovely perfect emporium
where visitors can explore the range of delightful, unusual
and stylish antiques and gifts to buy while taking in the many
interesting and historic sights of Bridlington's `Old Town
Trail', which includes buildings dating from the 17th, 18th
and 19th centuries, the original Corn Exchange and Market
Place, two distinguished inns and one of the earliest Baptist
chapels in the nation.
