At the Joyce Anderson shop in Corbridge you'll find a fabulous collection of jewellery and women's clothing and accessories. The wide range of jewellery comprises pearls _ necklaces, bracelets, earrings and rings in a vast selection of colours, shapes and sizes _ and semi-precious stones and silver, with a wonderful choice of different and unusual stones in every type of setting, from delicate to fashionably chunky. There's also a growing range of antique and second-hand precious and semi-precious stone jewellery set in gold. The clothes include beautiful evening separates, smart casual knitwear and separates, a fabulous knitted cotton collection by Claire International and hand-tailored coats and suits by Joan Haxton of Frimble.

Joyce started the business in 2002, selling pearls at fairs and parties. She opened the shop in November of 2004, and also has five associates who sell her jewellery and accessories in different parts of the country including Scotland, Kent, Liverpool, London and Somerset. She also has a developing website that's well worth a look.

The majority of the pearl and semi-precious jewellery is made to Joyce's designs for her. She buys the pearls from China and has them made up to her specifications in Hong Kong. The semi-precious stones come from India and are made up there to her specifications. Doing this means that there are no agents or wholesalers to pay and that Joyce's retail prices are most often equivalent to UK wholesale prices.

Almost anything can be made to order or special request for her customers.

Through her trade contacts, Joyce can get antique and second-hand pieces in on approval for any specific customer request and she also sells antique and second-hand pieces on behalf of customers.

Claire International knitted cotton separates come in a huge range of colours and styles, and Claire will make any of them to a customer's specific instructions. Similarly, the Joan Haxton of Frimble hand-tailored coats and suits are all made to measure and to the customer's requirements.

The accessories comprise a great range of scarves and handbags, beautiful beaded bags, silk, wool and cotton scarves, and pashminas (30% silk and 70% pashmina) at very reasonable prices.

Joyce's two chocolate Labradors, Holly and Susie, feature as models for pearl necklaces in her advertising and accompany her to the shop most days, where they have inspired their own fan club.
