Since the 1940s, the Robson family
has been producing superior quality honeys at the Chain
Bridge Honey Farm, signposted from the A698 Berwick-to-Coldstream
Road, three miles west of the A1. The shop offers a wide range
of excellent products, including several different honeys
(including clear, set and heather), honey and beeswax natural
skincare products such as lip balm, foot balm, face
and
hand cream, honey and beeswax soaps, traditional beeswax and
carnauba leather, furniture and shoe polish, and a delightful
range of dipped, rolled and moulded pure beeswax candles.
Specialist honeys include comb
honey, straight from the hive, and "chunk" honey, a
mixture of comb and clear. The Robsons also produce a
delicious honey mustard, and with the help of local dairy
farmers, a scrumptious heather honey ice cream. Alongside the
shop, visitors will discover an outstanding bee-keeping museum
with observation hive, free honey tastings, vintage vehicles
and the most novel of cafés - situated inside a restored
1950s Bristol bus! The shop, visitors' centre and café are
open all year round, daily from April 1st to October, 10am to
5pm, and weekdays November to March 9am to 5pm.
