The gallery occupies an interesting building with a vaulted ceiling that is believed to have been part of a 14th century monastery that stood here. Subdued lighting accentuates the white walls and highlights the imaginatively displayed pieces around the gallery; contemporary music plays softly in the background. There's a good choice of modern paintings, both originals and framed prints. Some truly striking sculptures are carefully positioned for maximum effect. Smaller items include hand-made jewellery in silver and precious stones, especially Baltic Amber; hand-made wooden lamps and decorative pieces such as toadstools and mushrooms, and mirrors in wooden frames. The gallery also stocks a superb range of furniture, hand-made using English woods such as oak and elm chests, dressers, coffee tables, chairs all in delightfully original designs; and a range of colourful ceramics. A great place to visit if you are looking for gifts with something very special about them.
