The children's writer, Beatrix
Potter's connections with the Lake District are well known and
her former home, Hill Top Farm, is now open to visitors. It
stands almost next door to Buckle Yeat, a charming 17th
century Lakeland cottage which is now the home of Robert and
Helen Kirby who welcome bed & breakfast guests to their
delightful house. It has an oak-beamed lounge with a warming
log fire, antique furniture and plenty of comfortable
armchairs _ a great place to relax after a long day's walking
and to makes plans for the next day.
Breakfast
is served in the spacious dining room and begins with fresh
baked bread rolls and a selection of cereals, yoghurts, fresh
fruit and oatmeal porridge. This is followed by a full English
breakfast prepared to order _ the Kirbys cater for all diets.
During the day, the dining room doubles as a tea room serving
traditional cream teas and home-made cakes. Accommodation at
Buckle Yeat comprises double or twin-bedded rooms, all
individually furnished and tastefully decorated. All are en
suite and provided with colour TV, hairdryer and hospitality
tray. Please note that Buckle Yeat is non-smoking.
