The children's writer, Beatrix Potter's connections with the Lake District are well known and her former home, Hill Top Farm, is now open to visitors. It stands almost next door to Buckle Yeat, a charming 17th century Lakeland cottage which is now the home of Robert and Helen Kirby who welcome bed & breakfast guests to their delightful house. It has an oak-beamed lounge with a warming log fire, antique furniture and plenty of comfortable armchairs _ a great place to relax after a long day's walking and to makes plans for the next day.

Breakfast is served in the spacious dining room and begins with fresh baked bread rolls and a selection of cereals, yoghurts, fresh fruit and oatmeal porridge. This is followed by a full English breakfast prepared to order _ the Kirbys cater for all diets. During the day, the dining room doubles as a tea room serving traditional cream teas and home-made cakes. Accommodation at Buckle Yeat comprises double or twin-bedded rooms, all individually furnished and tastefully decorated. All are en suite and provided with colour TV, hairdryer and hospitality tray. Please note that Buckle Yeat is non-smoking.
