The Drove Inn

Roweltown, Carlisle CA6 6LB

Tel: 016977 48202 Fax: 016977 48054

website: www.cumbriaholidays.co.uk

The Drove Inn offers the perfect combination of a friendly, traditional inn and, close by, quality self-catering accommodation. The inn dates back to the late 1800s and derives its name from the days when stock was driven to auction on foot.

The original longhouse is still evident but the inn has grown considerably over the years and has been tastefully modernised to suit today's clientele. Kenneth Hope and his family have been here since 1974 and have built up an excellent reputation for the food on offer with steaks a speciality. They offer a full menu with wine list, or just a snack, every evening of the week. Self-catering guests stay at Drove Cottage which sleeps up to nine people. On the ground floor there's an en suite twin room; on the first floor are two twin rooms and one double.

There's a lounge with colour TV and video; a fully equipped kitchen with microwave and fridge, bathroom and separate shower room. The Hope family farm 65 acres of land where guests are welcome to roam along with the hardy Swaledale sheep. Within the grounds is a beautiful stretch of the River Lyne where anglers can try their luck!
