The Cariad Coffee House & Tea Room

7 Market Square, Kirkby Lonsdale, Cumbria LA6 2AN

Tel: 015242 73271

website: www.thecariad.co.uk

The Cariad is a coffee house with a difference. After your country walk, enjoy traditional home-cooked food using local Cumbrian produce and soak up the relaxed ambience. As the food is made on the premises, it is free from artificial preservatives and additives. The bread is made to their own recipe using Carr's of Carlisle flour without added enzymes, improvers or bleach. The potato hash and home-made chutneys are popular, as is the chunky sticky toffee pudding with thick butterscotch sauce, and the seasonal fruit crumbles. The fruit scones are so popular that owners Paul and Eirian now write on the board outside what time they are out of the oven! The Cariad also offers organic seasonal salads, traditional Sunday roasts, and is licensed. There is a roaring fire during winter months and dogs are welcome.
