It was said of Imelda Marcos that,
"They searched her wardrobe for skeletons but only found
fabulous shoes". Named after this most famous shoe
collector of all time, Imelda's in Ramsbottom's town
centre stocks an astonishing array of stunning footwear along
with some superb handbags and other accessories. The boutique,
with its distinctive cream canopy, was established in 2003 by
Deana Stannard who had previously been working at Harrods in
London. Deana travels twice a year to Milan, Paris and Spain
to seek out the most striking quality footwear she can find.
She also seeks out gorgeous hand-made handbags (mostly
Italian) and
accessories
from such leading names as Rodo, Gardenia, Givenchy, Emilio
Pucci and other select houses.
Back in Lancashire, these stunning
creations are cleverly displayed with minimalist panache _ a
single shoe, for example, on its separate glass shelf. Subdued
lighting and unobtrusive background music all add to the
atmosphere of a shrine to the shoe. Deana and her
knowledgeable and friendly staff provide a very personal
service and Deana even offers an out-of-hours service if
required. No wonder discerning shoppers travel from all over
the northwest to marvel at the shoe's Imelda's displays.
