Your journey can be broken at Ramsbottom or Irwell Vale stations where you could enjoy a lineside picnic. On Platform 2 at Bury Bolton Street Station, the period tearooms offer views of the locomotives arriving or departing from the station, while you enjoy a meal in the pleasant surroundings. Snacks and meals are available and the rooms can be pre-booked for special occasions. A wide variety of events take place throughout the year, including Santa Specials, a Day out with Thomas and Friends, 1940s Wartime weekend and Steam Enthusiasts Weekend - ring for current details. Adults can actually drive a steam or deisel locomotive on the `Footplate Experience' or an entire train can be hired for a special occasion or event. Facilities for the disabled are extremely good with access at all the stations, toilets at the main stations and a specially adapted carriage with wide doors and hydraulic lift.
