Discover the amazing variety of
wildlife found in present day Scotland. Then step back in time
and meet the creatures that roamed the earth hundreds, even
thousands of years ago - the animals of your ancestors. Get
closer than you ever thought possible as past meets present in
the spectacular setting of the Highland Wildlife Park.
Be amazed as you enter the world of the `big bad wolf' which
has long been part of myth, fairytale and legend. Find out the
truth about these fascinating creatures when you visit the
exciting Wolf Territory, where a raised walkway takes you
right into the heart of the enclosure. Marvel at the large
reserve from the new viewpoint shelter and see herds of
beautiful red deer and magnificent Highland cattle, as well as
species now extinct in the wild - enormous bison, ancient
breeds of sheep and the wild Pzrewalski's horses.
You can explore the rest of the
Park on foot and wander around the themed habitats of the
capercaillie, polecat, otter, owl, red fox and many more. To
make your day complete there is a coffee shop, gift shop,
children's trail and play area, free guidebooks and binocular
hire. The Park opens daily from 10am (weather permitting in
winter) and closes at 4pm November to March.
