Quality, variety and personal service are watchwords at the
Best Butchers Ltd, a retail shop specialising in locally sourced meat. Simon Boddy trained as a master butcher and followed
his trade working for others for some years before opening his own shop in 1994 in these
premises on a working organic farm. Besides the joints and cuts of beef, lamb and pork and the
poultry, the shop is renowned for its pork, beef and lamb sausages, all made on the premises, for
its bacon, dry-cured and smoked over beech, and the wonderful Brickhill ham. This is
Simon's adaptation of Parma ham, air-dried and smoked. Best Butchers also sells fresh fish
from Billingsgate on Fridays and Saturdays, and a fine selection of
English and Continental cheeses.
The shop is bright, modern and spotless, a winner every year of
the Clean food Award. Shop hours are 8am to 5.30pm Monday
to Friday, 8am to 4pm Saturday.
