A superb family day out is guaranteed at
Itchen Valley Country Park, whose 440 acres of
water meadows, ancient woodland, conifer
plantations and grazing pasture span the River Itchen
between Eastleigh and Southampton. The various
areas support a great variety of bird life, insect and
plant life and there are trails, cycle routes, picnic sites and a host of children's activities. The
High Wood Barn Visitor Centre, built in 17th century style from timber recovered from the great
storm of 1987, contains information, interactive exhibits, a café and a shop.
