Cotswold Wildlife Park & Gardens is one of the leading
attractions in the county and provides a perfect family day out.
Children especially enjoy the Walled Garden which is home to
penguins, tropical birds, monkeys, meerkats and otters all of them
available for adoption as are the many endangered species of
animals. These include Asiatic lions, Amur leopards, Red Pandas,
rhinos, camels, ostriches and giant tortoises. Other attractions within
the Park include the Tropical House, Reptile Courtyard, Insect
House and the Bat House with more than 100 Fruit Bats.
For gardeners there are formal plantings, the "Hot Bed",
flamboyant borders, container planting and hanging baskets, while the 160
acres of beautiful parkland contain fine specimen trees including
Giant Redwood, Wellingtonia, cedars and a huge 600-year-old oak. Snacks and
hot meals are served in the Oak Tree Restaurant and amenities for
children include a farmyard, adventure playground, brass rubbing centre and
a narrow gauge railway. The Park is open every day except Christmas Day from 10am; last admissions are at 4.30pm, March
to September; 3pm, October to February. The Park is located on the A361, two miles south of
its junction with the A40 at Burford.
