Philip and Rosemary Norris have farmed in the
area for more than 30 years and, since 2001, they
have been offering unique, award-winning
self-catering accommodation on the farm. They built a number
of brick-and-flint holiday cottages in the same style
as the old cow sheds and gave the cottages the
names of the Friesian cows that were once milked
here. The seven cottages - April, Bluebell, Charity,
Daisy, Hope, Ivy and Rose - have from one to three bedrooms, well-equipped kitchen/living space and
a bathroom with power shower over the bath. Ivy
and Rose (each sleeping two) have small patio areas.
All are well-furnished, comfortable and very accessible, and shared facilities include a
laundry room and a picnic area with wooden picnic
tables. The cottages won a Sussex Heritage Award for
an outstanding development using traditional skills
in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The location at the foot of Caburn Hill is both scenic
and serene, and this is excellent walking country. The village of Glynde is one mile
away, Glyndebourne Opera House two miles, Lewes two miles and Brighton nine miles.
