The Canterbury Tales

St. Margaret's Street, Canterbury, Kent CT1 2TG

website: www.canterburytales.org.uk

The Canterbury Tales, housed in the former parish church of St. Margaret, founded during Anglo Saxon times, is situated right in the heart of old Canterbury. Visitors are taken on a 600-year journey back in time in a delightful recreation of five of Chaucer's famous tales.

Join Chaucer's band of pilgrims as they embark on a journey from The Tabard Inn in London to the shrine of St Thomas Becket in Canterbury Cathedral.

Along the way, colourful and entertaining stories depicting the humorous, romantic and sometimes sinister sides of human nature are brought dramatically to life by characters from the Tales (the Knight, the Miller, the Wife of Bath, the Nun's Priest and the Pardoner).

These fascinating scenes of medieval England are re-created through life-sized character models that allow the visitor to engage with Canterbury's fascinating past. The attraction provides a unique opportunity to experience and analyse life in medieval England as depicted in one of the greatest and liveliest literary masterpieces of all time.

Commentaries in English, French, German, Dutch, Italian, Spanish and Japanese are heard through personal headsets plus a special children's version in English is also available.
