Top-quality craftsmanship is on display at David
Smith Contemporary Jewellery, which the eponymous
owner opened in the summer of 2004. David's initial designs
were in copper, with silver and gold hand-worked finishes,
and after a period casting commissioned pieces in pewter
he returned to producing jewellery in precious metals
and stones. Working in gold, silver and platinum, he
designs and makes a range of beautiful pieces that
include engagement and wedding rings, bangles and
bracelets, brooches, earrings, necklaces and tiaras; many of
the pieces are set with either diamonds or
top-quality freshwater pearls.
A selection of his work can be seen on the
excellent website. Besides his own pieces, David stocks
jewellery made by some two dozen independent craftspeople.
He still produces pieces for wholesale clients and also offers a bespoke repair and alteration
service. David Smith is a member of the Sussex Guild and shows at many regional craft fairs. His
