For more than a quarter of a century The Conker Shoe Co. has enjoyed a well earned reputation for shoemaking excellence and a high standard of customer service. Conker Shoes are produced by hand in the workshops that adjoin the spacious shop situated in the High Street between the Civic Square and the East Gate Arch in the heart of old Totnes. Through the glass doors at the back of the shop customers can see the dedicated Conker team making shoes, `cordwaining'. The 16^th century building is thought at one time to have been used as a theatre.

Originally servicing a niche market with multicoloured shoes, the majority of the 2000 pairs of shoes and boots made each year are just one colour, albeit one of a choice of 50! Conkers' have become synonymous with quality, comfort, durability and renewability, as the shoes are designed to be resoled time after time. With over 30 styles to choose from it's no wonder that they are worn by whole families.

Although many shoes are available off the shelf, most people opt to have a pair tailor made. Shoes prices range from £58 to £145.

The shoes are available from child size 5 through to adult 13 with half sizes and four width fittings as standard, and because most of the shoes are made to your individual requirements it doesn't matter if you have odd sized feet, if both feet fall within the standard sizes you pay the standard price.

For a small supplement people with bunions, narrow heels, high insteps etc can have a bespoke fitting and still enjoy all of the benefits of Conker Shoes. For those with more challenging feet, an appointment only, Made To Measure specialist service is available.

Besides shoes the shop sells high class ladies clothes, a wide range of leather accessories, bags, briefcases, purses belts, glasses cases, along with all manner of leather care products.
