Ashwick House is unique and snuggles in glorious isolation
on the south eastern edge of Exmoor National Park, high above
the lush tree clad valley of the tumbling River Barle. It is a
place where moorland, pasture and woodland meet. For fugitives from work
and the stresses of urban life arriving at Ashwick is like stepping into
another world.
Six acres of beautiful grounds surround the house, with
sweeping lawns leading down to secluded water gardens. The gardens are home
to many kinds of wildlife, including pheasants, moorhens, squirrels,
foxes and rabbits. At dawn or dusk it¹s possible to spot magnificent red
deer emerging from their woodland hideaways to graze.
At the heart of Ashwick House is a baronial style galleried hall furnished
by the new owners with oriental pieces, which blend well with the
Edwardian ambience. In winter months and chillier days its focal point is a welcoming
log fire. Other reception rooms such as the library or oriental themed lounge are also available to residents.
At Ashwick, the pleasure of life are heightened by high quality cuisine, which has
been traditional English but the new owners plan to enhance with a few tasteful additions to
the menu introducing where it blends well, a few continental alternative
flavours.
Whenever possible, local fresh produce is being used.
