The Grade I Listed garden at East Lambrook Manor is
internationally recognised as the "Home of
English Cottage Gardening". Packed with rare and unusual plants, visitors can wander along
the crooked stone paths through a profusion of colour, scent and cottage garden
style. Designed in the `50s by the horticultural icon, Margery Fish, her creation at East
Lambrook was responsible for revolutionising gardening in the 20th century. She discovered
many new varieties of plant, saved others from extinction and broke from the tradition of
the formal design, producing a garden which is a delight and an inspiration.
Margery Fish's famous plant nursery was established in the `50s and is still
open and packed with rare and unusual plants. The colour, structure and scent of the
hardy perennials available will suit gardens of all sizes and locations. There is also
an extensive selection of hardy geraniums available.
A newly created tiered display bed at East Lambrook Manor houses a
rolling exhibition of the National Collection of geraniums, allowing visitors to view
geraniums from all over the world. The collection is owned and maintained by its creator,
Mr Andrew Norton.
