Discovering a delightful new pub that offers the very best in English hospitality is always special. And when it's the Bluebell Inn and Resturant at Tissington, three miles north of Ashbourne, it is doubly special. This country inn, built of warm stone, has a reputation that goes far beyond its locality for great food and drink.

It consists of a bar, no smoking restaurant and function room, and has bar meals, Sunday lunches, banquets, buffets, conferences, meetings, wedding receptions and so on. The bar seats up to 32 people, and is comfortable, cosy and at the same time spacious. It offers real ales supplied by Greene King brewery, as well as a range of beers, lagers, wines, spirits and soft drinks. It is the ideal place to relax after a hard day exploring the Peak District, or planning your next trip. Hosts Ruth and Phil Sampson have a wealth of experience in the pub trade, and will make you most welcome when you visit.

With its menu containing over 40 main courses, food is important at the Bluebell, and it has achieved a fine reputation for its cuisine. The no smoking restaurant seats 16 people in absolute comfort, and serves home-made dishes that use only the finest and freshest of local produce wherever possible. In fact, all the meat used in the kitchens is sourced from a local farm, ensuring that you have a meal to remember. In January 2004 the inn was awarded the coveted "Peak District Cuisine" award because of the policy of using local produce, and if you look for the "Peak District Cuisine" logo on the menu you will see which dishes this applies to. Special diets can be catered for, such as gluten-free, dairy-free, wheat-free and vegetarian.

The pub is open from 12 noon until 11pm every day from March to November, with food being served from noon until 9pm (and 8.30pm on Sundays). In November, January and February, Monday to Thursday inclusive, it closes between 3pm and 5.30pm unless booked in advance. There is a large car park that can accommodate approximately 75 cars and a large beer garden with play area.

Tissington is a historic village that continues the Derbyshire tradition of well-dressing, and there are many walks and places to visit in the area. Chatworth House and Alton Towers are close by, as is Haddon Hall.
