Avante Garde sells a stylish range of goods for
the home and garden, and can be found a short
drive from Chatsworth House on the A623. Great attention is paid by the owners, Linda and
John Lowen, to design, colour, texture and fitness-for-purpose of the many items
in the shop. So committed are they that they scour the UK and Europe looking for
the latest trends.
Whether it's mirrors, cushions and throws from Sweden, wicker baskets, vases,
artificial flowers, books or gift wraps, there is sure
to be something that will catch your eye. So well designed and crafted are the objects that
the shop has featured many times in Country
Living. All the items are displayed on various
pieces of furniture such as painted housekeepers' cupboards, painted dressers and old
pine chests, accentuating that country look that is
so admired nowadays.
Plus there are many charming items for the garden, for not only do people like
to personalise their interiors, they like to do
the same to their gardens. French garden furniture, brightly painted bird houses, galvanised
planters, sweet pea baskets, metal obelisks and
beautiful benches made from old metal bed heads - Avante Garde has got them all. Another
section is called "Planted", where seasonal
plants, bulbs and herbs are set in beautiful containers.
Just two doors away from Avante Garde is an exciting new venture. Linda has
acquired the premises to sell a selection of
beautifully crafted furniture, including many
original pieces that can be found nowhere else.
There are glass fronted cupboards, painted tables
and chairs, wardrobes, small occasional tables
plus many more pieces that would add grace and elegance to any house interior. There will
also be bespoke pieces using original materials.
In addition, Linda will also be featuring an extension to her existing ranges of
mirrors, lamps and pictures. Everything on display
is designed and crafted with style in mind, and you are invited to browse to your
heart's content.
Avante Garde of Baslow is a must-visit place for all your gift needs, and you can
even buy Christmas gifts and decorations. It sits
two miles from Chatsworth House and the market town of Bakewell. It is open
seven days a week from 10am to 5pm.
