Centrally situated in the beautiful Peak District National Park, historic Biggin Hall dates back to the 17th century. It is now one of the most popular hotels in the area - the Biggin Hall Country House Hotel, set in eight acres of glorious countryside. The present owner has completely renovated it in keeping with its original character, retaining many fine period details and marrying them with the modern attributes that make a hotel so friendly and welcoming. Nobody stands on ceremony at the Biggin Hall Country House Hotel - the accent is on informality and good old-fashioned value for money.

Visitors have the choice of two sitting rooms, one with a library, the other with a large, traditional open fireplace, and there is a separate dining room. There are 20 guest rooms, each one individually furnished with antiques and decorated to an exceptional standard. All have a colour TV, tea/coffee making facilities, telephone and silent fridge. As well as the "master suite" in the main house, there are six en suite double/twin rooms and a suite of two rooms sharing an adjoining bathroom. Within the recently converted 18th century courtyard there are five double/twin rooms and a two-bedroom suite, all fully en suite. The Bothy, which is attached to the main house but accessed from the courtyard, boasts two double/twin rooms, both en suite, and a two-bedroom suite with private bathroom. The Lodge, 70 yards across the lawn from the house, has one single and two double/twin en suite rooms. All guests can avail themselves of the facilities in the main house.

Food is important in this hotel. Dinner is served at 7pm, and is one of the highlights of a stay here. Many guests come back again and again for the traditional and superb home cooking that forms the mainstay of the menu. Almost all of the produce is sourced locally, so you are assured of a meal that combines great flavour with freshness. Vegetarian options are always available, and special dietary needs can be accommodated by prior arrangement. Continental breakfasts are served between 8am and 9am, and for a modest cost you can have a full English breakfast as an alternative.

The Biggin Hall Country House Hotel combines luxury and informality within stunning surroundings, and affordable prices.
