For a stylish and impressive coffee bar in the centre of Leek, head for The Coffee Clique in Getliffe's Yard, off Derby street, the town's main thoroughfare. It is stylish and impressive, with a clean, contemporary ambience about it while at the same time retaining a feeling for the past. Getliffe's Yard was once a uninspired area of the town, but is now trendy and smart - just right for a place as sophisticated as The Coffee Clique.

But for all its modern feel, it is still a friendly establishment that places great emphasis on high quality and value for money. Julie and Kirsty, who own and run The Coffee Clique, have created the coffee house from what was an empty shell (the whole area was once workmen's cottages), designing and decorating it to make it appealing to both young and old alike.

It is open from Monday to Saturday from 8.30 am to 5 pm for breakfasts, light lunches, coffees and snacks. You can choose from a printed menu or a specials board which changes daily. Paninis are very popular, and are served with a salad, coleslaw and potato crisps. Fillings include tuna with mixed pepper salsa, bacon with brie and red onion, feta, Italian herbs and Mediterranean vegetables, and so on. There are also vegan and vegetarian alternatives available. Or how about the The Coffee Clique's fine range of toasties, which are always tasty? They come with various fillings such as tomato, onion, ham, tuna, etc, and are accompanied by a side salad, coleslaw and potato crisps.

Or you can choose from an extensive range of sandwiches - chicken and bacon with mayonnaise, tuna with sweetcorn or red onion, salsa salad, cheese and onion and so on. Baked potatoes have such fillings as cheese and beans, chilli and cheese, humus and carrot and just plain or buttered. The specials board sometimes carries such favourites as apple and almond slice, Danish pastries or minestrone soup.

The range of coffees and teas is extensive, and all are Fairtrade.

Most of the produce used in the kitchen is sourced locally, and great emphasis is placed on good, organic produce wherever possible. There is seating for 20 upstairs and 20 downstairs. Internet access is provided on both floors as there are three PCs and a laptop available to customers. You'll never be disappointed at The Coffee Clique!
