Jo and Darrel Sargeant offer you a very warm welcome to The Abbey Inn, a freehouse that is situated on the outskirts of the historic town of Leek in Staffordshire, and close to the Peak District National Park. It dates from the 17th century, and is a handsome building, a delightful mix of traditional features that you expect from an inn of this age and quality, and modern concepts such as high standards of service and great value for money.

It offers good food, great drink and comfortable and affordable accommodation to the discerning traveller and tourist. Walkers are most welcome, and there are many fine walks within the area. Its food is renowned throughout the area, the cuisine being classic English with a few foreign influences. The kitchen uses only the finest and freshest local produce. You can choose from the printed menu, which features such favourites as warming bowls of soup, mixed grills, a combo for two of chilli and ginger goujons, Brie wedges, onion rings, salad, dips and garlic bread. The specials board also has many favourites, and can include steak and onion pie, liver and onions and chicken breast in a red wine sauce.

It is also famous for the quality of its drinks, and offers two real ales, one of them London Pride and the other a rotating guest ale from a local brewery. It also offers a quality range of beers, lagers, cider, wine, spirits and soft drinks. This is the perfect inn to relax over a glass (or two!) of your favourite tipple as you contemplate a day exploring the Peak District, or planning your next day's foray into an area of England that offers some of the best scenery there is.

Accommodation is superb, as the rooms are comfortable and tastefully decorated. One room, with its king-sized bed, is suitable for self-catering, though breakfast is available at the inn. The other two rooms are doubles, though one is spacious enough to be considered a suite.

The inn is closed on a Tuesday and serves food the rest of the week at the following times: Monday - Saturday lunchtimes 11am to 2pm; Monday - Thursday evenings 5.30pm to 8pm; Friday - Saturday evenings 5.30pm top 9pm and Sunday 12 noon to 9pm.
