Café Barista is located in Foss Street, a
cobbled pedestrianised lane which is also home to
various art galleries and clothes shops. The café
was established in July 2006 by Tara Barton and
her team of knowledgeable staff. The declared aim of the café is to create a relaxed bistro-style
eating place where the coffee is always of the very highest standard and the food and delicious cakes
are always locally sourced, home-made and organic.
There's always a good selection of vegetarian dishes available
and they haven't forgotten the little ones _
"child-size" portions are available for them. From traditional
British sandwiches and baguettes, home-made cakes,
exciting fresh salads and oven-baked jacket potatoes to
more substantial dishes _ you can be confident of
finding something to tempt you! Picnic and hamper packages are
also available.
The décor of Café Barista includes
widely-spaced American Ash tables set on a traditional English oak
floor and every effort has been made to retain as many
original features as possible, which includes a lovely bay
window seat on the second floor. Discreet background music
and paintings by local artists adorning the walls all add to
the appeal of this very special place.
