Enjoying magnificent sea views across Torbay and the beach from its terrace and all its tables,
The Breakwater Bistro offers an outstanding choice
of freshly prepared home-made food throughout the day. It starts with a breakfast menu which is available until midday and includes a full
English, Smoked Salmon with scrambled eggs, and a choice of Breakfast Baps.
From 10am till 6pm a snack menu is available which
ranges from sandwiches (prawn or crab, perhaps), through
tortilla wraps and salads which include fresh local crab, a smoked
fish platter and Caesar Chicken. The main menu is served
from midday onwards with fresh local fish taking pride of
place. All the fish is landed at Brixham and so subject to daily
market availability. The Breakwater's chef prefers to bake or grill
the fish and offers a choice of either lemon & parsley
butter; roasted red pepper butter or garlic butter. Specialities of
the house include The Breakwater Fish Pella for two, and a
hearty plate of Moules Marinieres, Whitebait, King Prawns together with a selection of daily
fresh Brixham fish. Amongst the meat dishes are an 8-10oz Rib-Eye Steak; Pan fried breast of
duck, Grilled Medallions of Pork; and The Breakwater Burger , a 100% beef burger with bacon
and cheese. For vegetarians, the choice includes a Pasta and Roasted Mediterranean Vegetable
Bake topped with Cheese and served with salad and home-made coleslaw. The children's menu
offers old favourites such as Sausage, Chips and Peas as well as a vegetarian Tomato Pasta Bake. If
you have allergies to certain types of food, just alert the staff and they will be happy to advise you
on the appropriate menu choices.
At tea-time, the Breakwater offers a wonderful selection of home-made cakes,
sponges, pastries and desserts along with a wide choice of teas,
coffees, milky and soft drinks. Cream Teas are also served.
The Breakwater Bistro is home to the "Brixham Shoal
of Artists" whose paintings and sculptures are
displayed throughout the light and airy premises.
The bistro is open every day of the year, except
Christmas Day, from 10am to 9pm (last orders) in summer; from
11am to 4pm plus at least two evenings a week in winter. Children
and dogs are welcome.
