The Gnome Reserve and Wild Flower Garden was founded in 1979 and covers four acres. Roughly half of it is in a beautiful old beechwood with a stream running through and is home to most of the gnomes enjoying their various activities. The other half is The Wild Flower Garden with about 250 different species of wild flowers, herbs, grasses and ferns, which because of its diversity attracts insects, butterflies and birds. Some of the gnomes and pixies live there too. The whole four acres is a magical enchanted area which is very beautiful and encourages the imagination in an immensely fun loving way. It's for children and also the child within adults of all ages.

At The Gnome Reserve and Wild Flower Garden new gnomes and pixies are created. Visitors can usually see the different stages in the moulding process of making concrete gnomes for the garden and their superb hand painting, and the clay modelling, kiln firing and hand painting of each individually made indoor pottery pixie. Also on display in the museum is a collection of over 70 antique gnomes. Millers Collectables included most of them in their 1996 edition. Other facilities include refreshments; toilets (including disabled); baby changing and picnic areas. Dogs on leads are welcome.

Featured 55 times on TV, it has been described by The United Press International: "Nowhere in the world is there anywhere like this magic spot at West Putford".
