Art-loving visitors to Sudbury make a beeline for Gainsborough House, where the painter
Thomas Gainsborough was born in 1727. But art-lovers
and anyone else with an interest in good food will
time their visit to the town to be able to sample
the delights of the next-door restaurant Amici
Cucina Italiana. Owners Yvon (from Sicily) and Hadleigh Piret are both passionate about food and
top-class local produce, and what goes into their
kitchen comes out as superb Southern Italian dishes
with both traditional and contemporary elements.
The décor is smart and modern, with work by local
artists exhibited on the walls. Amici is the perfect choice
for anything from a cup of coffee and a quick bite to
a family get-together or a romantic dinner for two. Opening times are
10.30 to 2.30 and 6 to 10 Tuesday to Saturday.
