First licensed in 1760, the Antrobus Arms
has been dispensing hospitality ever since.
Leaseholders Trevor and Sandra Collins came back to
Antrobus (Trevors birthplace) in 1990 after running two
pubs in Burscough, Lancashire since the early eighties and the good people
of Antrobus and the surrounding area are enjoying the
relaxed, friendly ambience they have created at this traditional village
local. Set in scenic countryside on the A559 between Warrington
and Northwich, it's equally popular with passing trade and visitors
to the area, who can drop in at any time for a spot of refreshment
in convivial company. The inn is open all day seven days a week
for drinks (offering a varied selection of cask ales) and
professional chefs prepare excellent food served from 12 to 9 Monday
to Saturday and from 12 to 8 on Sunday. Prime local produce, including meat
from Webbs Butcher in nearby Northwich, are the basis
of dishes that run from sandwiches, salads and
baked potatoes to steak & ale pie, liver & bacon,
beer-battered cod and Caerphilly cheese & leek sausages in
a Mediterranean tomato sauce. Sunday is quiz night,
and the inn hosts a live entertainment evening on the
first Friday of the month. A function room can be hired
for private parties, and the inn has a pleasant patio,
a `secure' garden area and ample off-road parking.
