The Anchor Inn

Many visitors fall in love with the beautiful
South Hams village of Ugborough, but none have shown
their affection quite as clearly as Juliano Reichert
and Ruth Kerslake _ they became the landlords of the village pub,
the Anchor. Very much the centre of village social life, the Anchor, whose origins can be traced
back to the 16th century, is also popular with walkers, cyclists and holidaymakers travelling by
car through Devon.
The pub has a delightful public bar with oak parquet flooring and a
roaring fire, a 40-cover restaurant with oak beams and leaded windows, and an
attractive outside seating area. It is one of the
few places that still serves Cask Bass straight from the barrel, and also offers a variety
of other beers and an excellent wine list. The extensive bar and restaurant
menus combine pub classics with dishes inspired by cuisines from around the world.
The Anchor is a delightful, civilised base for B&B guests with five self-contained
chalet-style en suite bedrooms.
