From its position on an outcrop of Tunbridge Wells sandstone, the
Beacon Bar & Restaurant enjoys truly memorable
views from the terrace. Those views have barely altered since a Victorian guide book called
it `as beautiful as any England affords'. The house has a wealth of interesting
architectural features, including fine stained glass and an
oak-panelled bar.
The cooking is a top attraction here, and everything on the menu is certain to
please; seafood specials such as brill on lobster
bisque, Dover sole meunière and bream with roasted
baby vegetables are particular favourites. The Beacon
is also a good choice for a business or leisure
base with three comfortable en suite bedrooms
available all year round.
