Just off the A17 east of Holbeach and close to Long Sutton, The Bull has a long history of serving both the local community and the numerous tourists who visit this pleasant part of South Lincolnshire. Behind the Grade II listed Georgian frontage, this handsome village pub has a delightful bar and snug and a separate 60-cover restaurant. Photos of the pub in days gone take the eye in the bar, and other memorabilia include a framed option sheet for the auction of the premises in 1832 (it fetched £50, with a few fields thrown in).

Hosts Frank and Stephen Round look after their customers from noon to midnight every day of the week, providing a good range of drinks (London Pride is the resident real ale) and well-presented, well-priced home-cooked favourite pub dishes. Four bedrooms with 17th century wood panelling and furniture in keeping with the inn's age offer a very pleasant, civilised base for touring a region that is rich in visitor attractions. Notable among these are the Peter Scott Walk, the Butterfly & Falconry Park at Long Sutton and King John's Lost Jewels Triail. It's a great part of the world for walkers and cyclists, and country lanes to the north lead to the villages of Holbeach St Matthew and Gedny Drove and the marshland of The Wash.
