The Black Bull is a fine old inn dating back
to the 17th century. It stands in the heart of the village of Wark close to the edge of the
Northumberland National Park between Hexham and Otterburn, and within easy
reach of Kielder Water and Hadrian's Wall. Farmers use the inn as an unofficial
headquarters, and they, along with other locals and visitors, make for an
excellent convivial atmosphere.
A handsome greystone building with a huge sign on its
slate-tiled roof, the hotel has a well-stocked bar and a lovely bright lounge
with a separate restaurant section. Here, hearty country appetites are
satisfies by a good, well-balanced choice of wholesome, unfussy dishes prepared
and presented with care. Food is available lunchtime and evening seven days a
week. The hotel has a pleasant garden and plenty of off-road parking. And for
anyone planning a stay in this glorious part of the country, the Black Bull
offers comfortable accommodation in five guest bedrooms, all with en suite
facilities, television and hospitality tray.
