Wellington is the pleasant old market town from which the Duke took his title, and south of
town an obelisk 175 feet high was erected to commemorate his great victory at Waterloo. Back in the
main street of town, another landmark is the Blue Mantle
Hotel, a pretty period building painted in light blue, with
small-paned windows framed in white.
Chris and Kathleen Towle, whose interests and skills
range from languages and arts and crafts to natural therapies,
printing production and cooking. They are also the friendliest and
most civilised of hosts, and they have a genuine desire to make
their guests feel instantly at home. The guests cover a wide
spectrum of backgrounds and interests and include regular visits
from students at the nearby international school and their parents. The guest accommodation
comprises eight well-appointed bedrooms, all but one with en
suite facilities. Non-residents are welcome to drop in
for breakfast, tea, coffee and cakes.
