 For more than 30 years, three generations of the Fitzgibbon family have owned and run
Aherne's Seafood Restaurant & Accommodation.
Over those years it has been offering an
impressive combination of top quality cuisine, superbly
fitted-out bars and stylish accommodation. Owner John Fitzgibbon has resisted the temptation
to develop this highly successful enterprise into a conventional hotel. He prefers the more
relaxed ambience of a "restaurant with rooms". Working together with his wife Kate, brother David
and his wife Gaye, John says: "We aim to be the best place to stay, and eat, in Ireland". It is for
its seafood that Aherne's Restaurant is famous. It was recently voted "2007 Seafood Bar of the
Year" by Georgina Campbell and one of "Irelands most Romantic Restaurants" and is the perfect
place to enjoy a fantastic gastronomic treat.
Only the freshest local produce is used so the menu changes daily but
always includes the finest fish from that day's
catch in Youghal harbour, locally reared beef and lamb, seasonal vegetables and a
delicious array of various home baked breads. The luxurious accommodation at
Aherne's comprises 13 superior en suite rooms.
Each of the spacious bedrooms and junior suites is individually decorated with carefully
chosen antique furniture and fitted with
traditional crisp white linen to add to the luxury.
