The Rams Head Hotel is a handsome Victorian building on a corner site, an easy walk from
the centre of Barrow. Its prime site and its
outstanding hospitality make it a great favourite with both
locals and visitors, and hosts Malcolm and Helen Barker and their family, here since 2004, have an
equally warm welcome for familiar faces and first-timers.
The hotel is open all day, from noon to midnight, serving
a fine selection of drinks that include wines, spirits,
soft drinks and the occasional guest real ale;
Worthington Bitter and Carling are favourites with the regulars.
Hot and cold snacks are available all day, and
for guests staying awhile the pub has seven
comfortable bedrooms ranging from singles to family size, let on
a room only basis. The beer garden really comes into its own
in the summer, and the hosts have plans to build a gazebo. The Rams Head
is always friendly and relaxing, and inhibitions are well
and truly cast aside for the karaoke sessions on
Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights. Live acts perform on
Sundays, and sports fans can watch the big events on a big
TV screen.
