Howscales Cottages provide superb
self-catering accommodation set in award-winning
gardens nestling in the beautiful, tranquil countryside of
the Eden Valley. Former outbuildings of Liz
Webster's 17th century red sandstone farmhouse have
been sympathetically converted to offer a choice of
five very comfortable, characterful units with one or two bedrooms. Granary (the old grain store)
and barn conversions
Geltsdale and Ravendale each occupy two floors, with bedroom/s and bathroom on
the ground floor and kitchen and living areas
above; while Hazelrigg and Inglewood are all on
one floor. Hazelrigg, is the best equipped for disables
guests, with a Category 2 Rating from the National Accessibility Scheme.
All are centrally heated and fully carpeted, with well-fitted kitchens
and comfortably furnished sitting areas with TV and radio. Liz
has thoughtfully provided information packs on local walks, places
of interest and eating places. Walks from the cottages can be as
gentle or energetic as appropriate, and the Coast2Coast Cycle route is just
a mile away. There are opportunities nearby for golf, fishing and
pony trekking, and several castles, historic houses, gardens and
museums are within an easy drive.
